Teresa MatthewsBaz visited my mum to provide new hearing aids. Whilst being professional he is really friendly and approachable. He explains things clearly in simple terms and answered all our questions. The hearing aids are compatible with TV streaming and also a portable microphone. We ordered these with Baz, which he set up on his visit. They are both amazing. Mum can listen to the TV at her own volume directly through her hearing aids, whilst we can now have the TV at a normal volume. When we are out and there is background noise, the microphone enables her to hear much better. This will be especially useful when she is out in the wheelchair, in the car, or at the doctors. Couldn't be more pleased with the service provided by a lovely man. Mum has a big smile on her face ☺️Posted on Google

Sarah WheatleyBaz is amazing he has changed our lives. I thought my husband had bad hearing but found out I was worse than him. Especially with the clarity do speech. It had made such a difference. I thought I could hear the birds songs clearly but now it’s just mind boggling it’s so clear. I don’t have to shout to Adrian anymore and he doesn’t have to shout towards me which was stressing us both out. Because he thought I I was ignoring his and I thought the same shout him. But now we can’t get a way from each other and the clarity was amazing. Because I thought he was a little bit muffled but now I can hear every word clearly. We also both have our hearing aids connected to a tv streamer and we thought our tv was amazingly big like a cinema but now with our hearing aids we have surround sound too. Ady WheatleyFirst of all Baz cleared the wax from both my ears. He was very helpful and kind and it he came the next day to give us a hearing test after the wax removal. We then realised how much hearing loss I had. My wife and I are both wheelchair users and to communicate was very difficult. But thanks to Baz he has changed our world because now we communicate to each other with ease. Shouting to each other is not good for our mental health and condition of MS so these hearing aids really changed our world. Thank you so much Baz. Baz also introduced additional for our hearing aids and when my wife follows us in the wheelchair it is very difficult to say I’m stopping or something is in the way. With these additional mini microphones we can communicate to each other as if we wearing walkie talkies. We wore this setup to Twycross zoo and it was life changing. Even though people were making lots of noise around us we were able to talk to each with ease. I was able to tell my wife where the giraffes were and where the zebras were and we shared some great memories.Posted on Google

No. It is completely painless and non-invasive, using standard audiology equipment adapted for home visits.
Around 30 to 45 minutes, including time to talk through your symptoms and go over the results afterwards.
The initial hearing test carries a small call-out charge for the home visit. If you go on to purchase hearing aids, this is often deducted from the cost.
It is not recommended as there can be some risks. The risks are causing damage to the ear drum/canal or making blockages impacted and harder to remove. We recommend that you see a qualified experienced healthcare professional for removing ear wax. They will be able to analyse your outer ear, canal and wax to determine the best and safest method for removal.
There is always some exceptional circumstances where olive oil may not be recommended however as a general rule we would say yes. If you can use oil 1-2 times per day for 2-3 days prior to the appointment you will help in softening the ear wax to make it easier to clean. Some people stop using olive oil when it results in their hearing getting worse however that is usually a sign of progress. When the wax soaks up the oil it can expand and move around causing a blockage and therefore a temporary hearing loss. However it is a necessary step for preparation before an appointment.
Ear candling has been associated with ear injuries and can cause more harm than good. There is zero evidence that ear candling actually works.
No! Cotton buds can be very deceiving as they make you think you are removing wax by the discoloration after being in your ears. However the risk is that it can press wax further into your ear, compacting it and making it hard to remove. This can often lead to temporary hearing loss.
Unfortunately you can no longer get the wax removal procedure service at your GP surgery. As of Septemer 2020 it is has been changed and no longer deemed as an essential service.
When you have a hearing loss it means that your brain is having to work harder to compensate for a sense that is lacking. Unfortunately this can lead to your body taking on additional strain and stress. You may see when somebody who has hearing loss wants you to look directly at them with focus; or speak more slowly so they can understand what you are saying. Hearing aids reduce the strain and stress cause by hearing loss and make it easier to hear and focus on speech.
The process can vary from person to person depending on age, hearing loss and cognitive function. Hearing loss tends to creep up on us gradually by deteriorating little by little year by year. This means that over time there are many sounds that you are not used to hearing from your ears but your brain doesn’t fully recognise as well. This is why it is advised to persevere with hearing aids to allow your ears and brain the time to adjust to a full range of sounds and get the best out of your life.
No. Hearing aids are water resistant but they are not waterproof. It means that our hearing aids are designed to do well in different weather conditions however there are times when the devices should not be worn. For example bathing, swimming, sauna, steam rooms etc.
Most hearing aids need batteries changing between 3-7 days. Other larger hearing aids with bigger batteries could last up to 10 days. Fortunately we have great ranges of rechargeable hearing aids available so for many of out patients this is no longer a concern.
You would need to have a consultation with an Audiologist as their are many factors that can affect what styles you are suitable for. The main considerations are severity of hearing loss, size and shape of ear.
